FAQ

What to expect from your Hot Air Balloon Flight

How do I book a flight?

What is a flight like?

Hot Air Balloon rides are special because the experience encompasses so much more than just a ride. You are encouraged to participate in the inflation of the balloon at the launch site. While in the air, you’ll gently float along with the wind, so there isn’t a breeze. It’s a quiet and gentle experience as you glide across an Indiana Landscape. After we land and load back up, we finish with a sparkling toast to commemorate the experience. We then transport you back to the launch site. Be sure to take lots of pictures of your experience! For more information on specific flights, check out our Flight Page.

How long is the flight?

In Indiana, we will do our best to provide a 1 hour flight. If weather conditions change, we might need to end a little early.

What should I wear?

We recommend wearing pants and shoes you could hike in. Part of the adventure is not knowing where we’ll land, so we might need to walk through a field. Dress comfortably for the current weather on the ground.

How long is the whole ballooning experience?

The entire process is about 3-4 hours from start to finish, including a hands-on launch, an hour-long flight, a sparkling toast, and transport.

When are flights available?

We will ride year-round, depending on the weather. The key element is the wind. We want low-wind conditions and no chance of precipitation. Check our Booking Page for availability and schedule.

How many people can fly?

This depends on the weather, the weight, and the type of balloon. With our current balloon, with average 70 degree temperatures, the combined passenger weight is approximately 400 pounds.

Is it cold (or hot) up there?

No, the weather conditions in the sky are the same as the ground. Because we travel with the wind, there isn’t a breeze. The burners do add a little bit of warmth.

Are there age or height restrictions?

We suggest age 6 and up. There are no height restrictions, but it will be a more pleasant experience if they can see over the basket.

Do I need to sign a release?

Yes! We will provide one on-site.

What happens if we have bad weather?

This does occur pretty often in Indiana, and we will just need to reschedule for a better day. Often we have to make these decisions on a last-minute basis. Sky-hours in Indiana are precious – we only get 30-50 flight days a year – so we appreciate your flexibility. Your safety is our priority.

Can I be a part of the crew?

Absolutely! All of our guests are welcome to join in on the fun. Also, if you want to crew even without a ride, you can find out more here: http://www.redlineflyers.com/crew
